5. What to expect from therapy
You can expect to have the therapy process explained at the beginning of your first appointment.  Any questions you may have about therapy will be answered before a detailed discussion of your concerns/difficulties takes place.
The first two sessions are spent exploring the nature of your difficulties/concerns – how long they have occurred, discussion concerning any triggers, what makes it easier to manage, what makes it more difficult etc.  Following this assessment we work together to develop an intervention approach designed to meet your goals. Progress is monitored and discussed.
The number of sessions required will depend on a number of factors including the duration and intensity of the problem, other stresses, your personality style and the nature of the problem itself.  In most situations approximately 8 to 12 sessions are required.  Sometimes fewer sessions are needed.
